... a roomy 4x4 car that has very good mpg?

Thinking abart a Volvo XC90 but not sure what the miles per gallon of diesal is like.

Is there a website where I can make a comparative analysis of vehicle spec ?

I had one on a temporary basis

    for one month.
Didn't ever measure in accurately but would guess around 27mpg.
But then mine was a diesel model, not sure how you'll get in with a diesal

If you're doing mostly motorway miles

I eeked out 30mpg ave from the ML280CDI, which is good I'd say. but wept like a baby when around town, lucky to get above 17mpg, sat in the dark wi no music and even the parktronic turned off. Traded down in the end. Dont pay too much attention to the stats on What Car etc, if economy is the deciding factor, LPG is the way to go Im told, and put your clubs on the back seat.

I saw an advert for a Nissan 4x4 thingy.

It looked smart as a 4x4, but then turned into a crocodile. Seemed unnecessary and I'm not entirely convinced it's road legal.

You could put some gaffer tape over the switch though.

depress the accelerator and wait an hour for any forward motion. makes the Rangey look lightening. looks wise, its the Jolean Lescott of 4x4's an all.

The Rangie diesal is bloody hopeless. all that pomp and grandour and then nowt under the loud pedal.
Is the 2.5 diesal unit in the Toerag the same as the BMW unit they put in the Rangie these days?

Audi allroad, 34mpg diesel on a motorway run

As long as you don't go above about 80mph

Beautiful car loads of room and very reliable, pricey though (new)

Mine might be for sale high mileage though (91k) all those trips between Hamburg and Dodeth :D :D

New Range Rover diesel is a V8

the VW is a V6 I think, might get the economy up a bit, but crikey its slow. And then there's *cough* the badge. If you've got the budget, the new X5 is a nice drive, would be on my list if I wasnt so concerned about the environment, you see....

Fuel consumption on my 2.0 petrol Qashai is superb, and diesel meant to be even better. Not sure if it counts as "roomy" on the grand scale of 4wd cars, though it is an absolute dream to drive, even on the Russky "roads".

Sell your wife and kids to the Arabs and get a two seater.

    Hope that helps.
