I wouldn't go that far. However I wish he was surrounded with as much quality supplying him with chances that the likes of Peyton, Hendrie and Dyer got.
Probably one of the best finishers we have had in a long time. We are unlikely to have a player like him in the future, if we do lose him, which I think we will sadly. I'd say Shipperley deserves a mention in terms of best strikers. He was an incredible player, but not as much of a fox in the box as Woodrow. He's nearer to a David Currie, or a Hendrie type for me in terms of finishing.
Currie Hendrie Dyer Higgnet Ward Shipperley All better and I'd person even rate Payton and Biggins better too
Imho...ashley ward and shipperley better (all round game) and of course david geddis. Woody is top draw tho.
Very talented. Our best striker by far and the best we've had in a long time. Was poor last night though. Struggled to get into the game.
I agree wirh Winnall, good striker but different again from woody. Cauley is a footballer has a great first touch and can link play....winnall did not have any of those attributes.
I thought he had one of his worse games last night till 94 minute. Never got into game and his general play was poor. Still poped up in the end like all good strikers do!!
I was going to say something similar. Didn’t like him as a person much but he knows how to score goals
You're a ll nippers in this thread. Aylott and Parker were class. Alan Clarke wasn't too shabby either, at a lower level.
I rate him highly. I have a bet with a friend that he'll score 20 goals this season, with the caveat that it's void should we sell him in January. I placed that knowing just how weak the squad is and that he wouldn't be provided with many chances. Having said all that, I wouldn't, at this stage of his career, place him in the same bracket as Ward and Shipperley.
But the OP said since Hurst... If we could stick Aylott or Parker in this side and either McCarthy Evans or Hunter in at the back we would be just fine with the rest of the lads
