Mark Robins was visibly uncomfortable at a Trust meeting when someone asked for reassurance that he wouldn't try to sign Marlon King. His first answer was a squirmy sort of football manager avoiding the question type of thing, but the mood in the room was clearly that we didn't want someone of his reputation at the club, so Robins was asked again and eventually said "we will not be signing Marlon King". There is not a cat in hell's chance that we would try to bring Ched Evans to a club which is trying it's hardest to position itself as a community based family club. No way.

So if they say it was an unsafe conviction you still think he's guilty?

Like Dyson I would be returning my season ticket in fact I would hope a few like minded supporters would tender a bid to get our money back from a firm of solicitors on a no win no fee even if the took 90% .
As long as the likes of him are not benefiting from it I'd go along with it

I don't really know the story of what he did all that well. Has he actually been convicted of raping the girl, who can't remember having sex with him, or whether she consented or not?

Spot on Jay. I have a daughter and that would be the question I would ask myself if I was the manager. I don't want him anywhere near my club.

She can't remember, but they have admitted to having sex with her. It's a fair point though that if she can't remember having sex how can it be said beyond all reasonable doubt that she didn't consent? She can't remember **** all if she can't remember having sex.

He was convicted of rape but the facts don't make it clear cut. Like Jay says what did was morally wrong on every level so he's got what he deserved in my opinion.

I don't understand how he was convicted based on what I've read in this thread (which I know isn't what the jury had). If she can't remember, then she could have consented.

Another thing, I know this could be very, very unpopular, but wouldn't a person who got that drunk and then agreed to sex, be a little bit responsible themselves? I'm not saying that drunk women who are actually raped are in any way deserving of that, I'm meaning if a woman got really drunk (intentionally, not through being spiked) and then agreed to sex, can they really blame the guy for then doing so? The reason they wouldn't be in full charge of their thoughts is because they made themselves so. (This is hypothetical, and not related to this case, as we do not know if she agreed or not). Basically, a guy might take the moral high ground, because it's nice to do so (such as in Jay's story of drunk women throwing themselves at him), but I don't think the woman should expect them to do so.

    So you're saying

    a) she might have consented as she admits she didn't remember the evening in question.

    but...

    b) even if she did consent he should be jailed because his morals don't match your own?

Something being morally dubious doesn't doesn't make him a certified rapist.
