Both goals were sloppy pieces of defending. Especially the second one, where the defender played it back to his keeper, across the box.
The Third Goal Was Just As Sloppy Defensively Jack Lester though is too good for that level. The match is better than most of the premiership matches you see on the television. Chesterfield are playing fast, passing football, which is impressive in such horrible conditions.
RE: didn't chesterfield want £750k for him! nt Just checked he's 32 I think. A bit pricey, looks a top player though.
RE: didn't chesterfield want £750k for him! nt 5 years too late for him , and we all know players who look good in league 1 and 2 then fail to shine in the championship.. see barnsley fc play off finalists circa 2006
Yep you are probably right However, I can't help noticing little subtle things about his game, like: - He runs into spaces where no defenders are, then calls for the ball When the ball is passed to him it appears to "stick" to his foot/chest/thigh etc. When he shoots, the ball travels in the general direction of the opposition goal, sometimes it even goes in it When he passes the ball, he appears to be trying to pass it to a teammate He seems to have perfected the knack of heading the ball intentionally in the direction of a teammate, rather than allowing it to deflect off his head in a random direction (credit to Windy!) But, like you say, 5 years too late.
Lester Has The Qualities That Would Do A Job For Us I just wouldn't say he's worth more than around 300K.
RE: Lester Has The Qualities That Would Do A Job For Us I have to say he was excellent tonight. Great 1st touch and hold up play, good strength and a great finish for his 2nd goal. Even taking into account the level of opposition he was light years better than owt we have. Every time a Chesterfield player got the ball in midfield he was making runs and giving defenders a hard time. Basically doing everything that our forwards don't. Because of his age though he can't be worth more than 250k, which I very much doubt Chesterfield would take. He reminded me a bit tonight of a certain John Hendrie.
