I think they would vote him MOTM even if he wasn't playing

The REAL Man of the Match ...

... Jacob Burns without a doubt - bustled for every ball, helped out defensively and created scoring opportunities.

Agree - I thought McPhail and Burns worked really well together today, they have a great understanding of each other's play and they were at the hub of everything we did.

Burns has had two crackers in a row now, he didn't come on till late at Preston but was outfield MoM - and not just for the goals.

I don't know why people get wound up by the MotM decisions at the game.

After all - the choice is made by sponsors in the 'Legends' Suite, who are more than likely three sheets to the wind when asked to make that decision with around a quarter of an hour of the game left. Hence the incredulity (more often than not) from the gathered masses.

In my view, the only way a fair assessment of a MotM can be made would be for fans at the game to vote for a particular player - via SMS text messaging. At least that way, it'd be the supporters making the decision - even though other fans would probably still raise questions about the ultimate winner!

Some clubs have a text vote... it even raises a bit of cash for the club.
