    <div class="ds-headline" id="ds-headline">Reds double boost as key men sign up</div><div class="ds-headline"></div><div class="ds-headline"></div><div class="ds-firstpara">Barnsley have received a double Championship boost with two of last season's play-off heroes deciding to stay at the club.</div><div class="ds-firstpara"></div><div class="ds-firstpara">
    </div><div class="va-bodytext" id="va-bodytext">Skipper Paul Reid and goalkeeper Nick Colgan will both be at Oakwell next season as the Reds make their assault on the Championship.
    Reid has signed a new two- year deal while Colgan is hoping to sign a new deal soon so he can concentrate on next season.
    &quot;I need to sit down with the chairman and the chief executive before I go on holiday&quot; said the 32-year-old stopper.
    &quot;Hopefully we can get something sorted because as a player you always want to get your future sorted. Next year is going to be very difficult but hopefully the chairman can chuck the manager a few quid and he will be able to strengthen what is already a decent squad.&quot;
    One player who may be heading out of Oakwell is Stephen McPhail after Hull City boss Peter Taylor publicly expressed an interest in the midfielder.
    McPhail who has been one of the stars of the Reds promotion season is known to be considering his options with his contract being up this summer. Cardiff are also in the picture.
    Taylor who has also managed the England under 21's has said of McPhail &quot;He's a player on my list and he's one I've been looking at. That's all I'm prepared to say.&quot;
    Despite the interest in McPhail the Hull manager is known to cast a wide net in his search for new players so the Reds may still hold on to their star man.
    A club spokesman said: &quot;I can imagine that there are a lot of clubs looking at him at the minute.
    &quot;We've made him an offer and now it's up to him to decide what he wants to do.&quot;
    The Irish international has made a big impact at Oakwell since his free transfer move from Leeds in 2004 and has become a huge fans favourite.
    Owen Scrimmage of the Barnsley FC Supporters trust says: &quot;I would hope that Stephen will stay at Barnsley and sign the deal.&quot;
    &quot;I think that a move to Hull City would not be a positive move for Stephen as I don't think they have a strong squad and will struggle again next year.&quot;
    &quot;With a couple of good signings here at Oakwell we have the makings of a good team that should finish midtable.&quot;
    Wednesday were also expected to be in the race for McPhail but Owls boss Paul Sturrock has since said: &quot;He's a good player but I need a different type of midfielder.&quot;
    Barnsley have also cooled their interest in Hartlepool striker Adam Boyd.</div><div class="va-date" id="va-date">09 June 2006</div><div class="left"><div class="inactive">« Previous Page</div></div><div class="right"><div class="inactive">Next »</div></div><div class="centre">Page 1 of 1 </div><br clear="all" />

    Sorry but that's a load of tosh

    Those are old comments made by Colgan during the victory celebrations. There's nothing there that isn't almost a fortnight old.
