I have no particular like/dislike of Scotland, so based on the fact Murray is a dull, sulky tosspot whereas Federer comes across as a nice, humble bloke who also makes tennis look effortless I'll be cheering on Roger.
Depends, Listening to talksport one night and some scotts did when England played in Euros. We don't play England Scotland Wales ... We play Great Britain ESL. We look to have a few good players coming through around 18/19 in both mens and womens game. LEts get behind all of them. To MansfieldRed Was listening again to something and they where on about him. The People who are on the Tennis circuit for 45/50 weeks a year say he's the nicest man you will ever meet. Can't do enough for you. So not sure why people say that. PEople have to remember, he's a tennis player. Hes not confident in front of a camera.
Mark Petchey said it best. With many it's nothing to do with him being Scottish. For many it's simply that Roger is the best ever and he's earned the respect of the fans. For this reason I agree with Petchey that the crowd won't be as partizan as people expect. It will be pretty split compared to if Murray played someone out of the top four in the world.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzz No it doesn't but theres certain shows i like to listen to. Drive with Durham and Gough Sports Bar with Andy Goldstein and bobby gould
Having the ability to form an opinion without relying on various media outlets I can safely say I want feder to win as he is my favourite current tennis player. Makes the game look effortless.
Pretty much sums up my feelings. I think Federer is one of the most talented sportsmen of all time and has a fantastic attitude. Some footballers could learn a lot from him.
Why? Seriously, why?? If you're another dumb f.uck who's fallen for that anti-English nonsense, then the joke's on you unfortunately. I doubt he has any thoughts on England. I'd hazard a guess he doesn't have too many about Scotland! He's out of the country between 35 and 40 weeks every year and I suspect Anglo-Scottish relations don't figure much in his thinking. Quiet, very shy young man, with a sense of humour drier than the Gobi - he was goaded into saying something by the hacks, so thought he'd give them their pound of flesh with his 'anyone but England' quote. His tone and the wry smile on his face should have told you something. Unfortunately the knuckle-dragging neanderthals would prefer to believe the spin, hence this unbelievably childish anti-Murray sentiment. Whoever wins today is a deserved, worthy champion. Federer because he's been at the top for almost 11 years, Murray because he's held his own in the top 4 for so long in an unprecedented era for men's tennis. To have players of the calibre of Djokovic, Nadal, Federer and Murray at the stop & staying at the top for so long is astonishing. Agassi was spot on when he said Murray would have a handful of slam titles under his belt by now in any other era. You really should be ashamed.
Don't really care what he's like to his friends and family to be honest, its a media based sport and media is where he makes ALL of his money so media personality is important for me. If he comes across as a pillock on TV then i'll think he's a pillock
You mean that prize money that's funded by the media? All sportsmen make their money through the media. If there was NO coverage of tennis in the papers, the internet, tv or radio then there would be no money in the sport to pay his high salary. Same with every other sport really. Lewis Hamilton you could say makes his money from racing, in reality he makes his money from racing being on TV. ps, I don't dislike murray or think he's a pillock, it was just an example.
Well said that man. Well said - my view exactly. I really hope Murray wins - not just because a British mens victory in my lifetime would be brilliant - but I think it would be great for Murray too. He's worked hard for it and deserves a Slam title and Wimbledon is the top tournament. If he doesn't win then I would be equally delighted for Roger Federer, who is my favourite player - the best that has ever graced a tennis court. He plays like an artist and is a top bloke on and off court. A win for Federer would put him back at number 1 for the third time, at the age of 30 whilst breaking the all time number of weeks at number 1 record (which he is just short of by 1 week). Federer also deserves the title. For that reason, I'm thoroughly looking forward to what I hope is a great contest. I hope Murray wins it, but will be chuffed for Roger if he wins it also. I just hope both players are on top of their game and gives us a great contest.
