Yup. Brentford have had some coin put into them, and then the stadium. They are not comparable with us anymore.
But….the manager has to agree to it. Most won’t at that. It’s got to be realistic. Do well at BFC and find yourself stuck as no one will pay the release. Same as players. There has to be a middle ground. Higher wages may get round this, but it’s expensive.
Its a compromise which gives the club some insurance. Yes, would be expensive 1st year to take the manager, but not the second year. I don't accept that managers won't go for it. You would hope that most managers would originally be looking to stay longer than 1 season. There are a lot more managers than there are managers jobs. If what you say is true then why don't managers demand a 1 year rolling contract?
May be it's the state of football, but the stat that is significant is 16th manager in 17 years. I wonder how that stat compares to other clubs? Is this the age of the carpet bagger manager? Managers have agents as Neil said at last night's meeting, his agent told him of the opportunity. They sign a contract and walk away as soon as someone pays it up, or they get sacked and get compensation. The club has to start again. I can sympathise with Kane when he has to put up with constant changes of loyalty.
Money. Someone more financially astute than me will provide the details I'm sure, but they were about £60m in debt when they got promoted to the Premier League iirc.
They kept him by ploughing money into the club, despite making a profit last year they have debts of over £60m.
You say 60 million like it's a big deal.. it's one good or maybe two at Brentford, player sales. They get 120 million aseason for being in the prem. Our board having to put in 10 million over 15 months at L1 level is far more serious.
I agree that 10m in our position is worse... but don't get carried away by selling players off, a lot of the time the players they move on are still being paid for... so it's not all cash in the bank. Obviously if Brentford had just failed to make the promised land that debt would still be with them in the Championship.
