Did anyone on here get to see the film about Ian Curtis? For the first time in a few weeks, I've had some spare time & wanted to go & see it. Trouble is, it appears as though not only is there nowhere in the region showing it, it seems that there's nowhere in the country showing it!

Must have been a very limited release.

    A bit too far that!

If I was up in Scotland any time soon then it'd be a possibility. I'm not expecting to be up there again though until late January.

Saw it at Cineworld Manchester on Fri night

Absolutely quality film. Superbly shot and top class acting, told the Joy Division story really well and got the tragedy aspect of his death over really well.

Probably worth a trip to Scotland , but Manchester is nearer :)

im sorta gonna disagree... im still not 100% sure what it said that hadnt already been said ... i agree with the aspect of film making and directorship that it was a fantastic film.. but disapointed in the music side of things and the fact there was no direct input from any of the remaining members of joy division/new order..

said on here a few days ago a dead man cant tell his side of the story and while control was a film based on his woifes book therefore giving her side of things ..... maybe im being picky but i wanted more !!

Yes, I saw it the day after it went on general release. In London it was on everywhere, not just art-house cinemas. Only about 20 people in the audience when I saw it so maybe they decided it didn't have general appeal.

It's a very good film. You can tell that director is a photographer by trade. Filmed in black and white, it taps into the imagery surrounding the band. The plot wanders a bit but Sam Riley's performance has Oscar potential I would have thought.
