What an idiot I think every Barnsley fan hopes that Reuben makes it, he got a real cheer when he appeared in the home game. and then to basically say the Barnsley fans don't care. And to then to link the article directly to peoples opinions of Davey well its him now that over shadows the news of Reuben not us
I thought at the time that.. it served both purposes rather well in that it did deflect attention away from SD when he needed it the most and ensured that we would get above average compo when RNL moves on. I'd also venture that it was a joint decision as we probably knew that other clubs were after him at the time (I seem to recall Aston Villa being mentioned) So in that case I'd say well done Davey. You've probably guaranteed another few hundred k to waste on journeymen footballers.
Far from it as some will vouch, Im the last person to be accused of that. We seem to want our cake and eat it though, happy to hide behind the "its only a message board, pay no attention" at times, then when something is written that contradicts the popular opinion is hell and damnation to those that writ it. Admit it, he does have a point....
I'd also say that... if Davey thought he was ready, why not give him a few more cameo appearances? Got to be better than KO or RigorMortis.
My question is why haven't we seen more of Reuben and Jamil Adam on the bench both should have benn given chances ahead of Rigters
Of course he has a point... it's wrong like. I jsut wonder what he thinks the fans should have done to show they appreciate RNL? Seeing as he has only played Academy/reserve games since what November?
Fine... then what's the big problem? He is just another kid that might make it. The fact he is the league's youngest ever player is really irrelevant after the fact. Bringing him on at Norwich and then against Donny as I said previously served two purposes. The second of which I have no problem whatsoever with.
But it begs the question... ..if Reuben is so good, why has he not figured more in Barnsley's games, if only on the bench? Apart from the game against Ipswich, and the following week at Oakwell v Doncaster [?], he's not been near the first team. That reinforces the theory that it was a smokescreen.
********.
The whole thing is scandalous and in so vastly undersestimating the intelligence of his readers he only highlights his own shortcomings.
Whether we were right to claim that Davey's fielding of Reuben was a smokescreen or notis a minorpart of the overallshockingly disingenuous message.
If Patrick Cryne allows that article to remain then we'll have to assume he supports it.

Surely the reason he has received little interest from the fan base is because he's not yet 16. Don't forget that he got a great reception at Oakwell when he came on as a sub but other than that, exactly what attention should we be giving to a 15 year old that isn't in the first team? Or maybe we should be building him up as the next Ronaldo and heaping loads of pressure on him. To be honest I'd forgotten about him - I actually thought that was what the club wanted so the lad could be nurtured through the youth team and reserves, oh, hold on we've scrapped the reserve team haven't we? Yeah - that's a great move for bringing players through!
He's got a point - but perspective has boarded a plane and gone to the other side of the world.
Outside of BBS - land what does what's put on here matter (slander etc aside) ? You'd think BFC would have far more pressing issues right now than scanning websites to look for things that they don't like. I've said before, get along to The Groggers on a Saturday before a match - there's much more extreme views put forward than anything on here - is Mark Stokes going to set his own pub up, filled with only positive correctly opinioned fans ?
Perhaps if Simon or others at the club would do an in depth interview with the Chronicle (the Devils own weekly) about such matters then there'd be no need for a website set up to counter act the opinions of fans.
Football fans are an inconsistent, fickle breed, whether its Barnsley or whoever. If you get involved with a football club you'd better get used to it and grow a thick skin. A lot of what's put on here is B*ll*cks and in many cases unfair, but that's life and if the club were run a bit more professionally off the field as well as on it in my opinion, there'd be no need for the likes of 'Barnsley One' etc. The Club has to rise above the petty ill informed comments that pervade on here.
The club has its own official website, a local weekly paper devoted to the town, local radio and media. It's not short of avenues to get its message across without the need of an unofficial website spouting what In my opinion are the views of one or two thin skinned individuals.
.
