Is it me or do we seem a bit hapless from corners this year. They constantly seem to be claimed by the keeper. We have some big lads in the team and Mowatts delivery is excellent so surely we should be doing a bit better?

I don't think Mowatts delivery is hard enough and is too near the keeper. He needs to start setting them off a bit wider and get runners into the box. We're too static.

The annoying thing for me is the lack of movement. Pinnock wins every header at the back, yet on our corners he stands next to the keeper when he should be running in. We also have a massive striker and rarely seem to find him, granted this is usually because he's busy wrestling with his marker.

Harder to get power on headers from a standing start. Watch Scott Jones movement for his two goals against Manchester United (granted one wasn't a header). Look at the delivery too. It's as close to perfect as you can get.

It is a bit frustrating. Mawson scored at least half a dozen from set pieces in 15/16, Roberts chipped in with a few too. Pinnock and Lindsey have 2 between them in all comps this season I think, but often win their headers in defence. Winnall got his fair share from set pieces as well.

I think the main difference is we don't have Hourihane anymore.

Lindsay scored 7 in 62 matches for Patrick Thistle before he joined us, so maybe it's the delivery that's at fault.

We need to start the "Corner Watch" thread again. We're bound to score from one then! :D

Muller fruit corners are the way forward. I think DS is on it.

It shouldn't be so difficult to do what Conor used to do of chip a floater to around the penalty spot. Far enough out that keepers don't like going for it (unlike most we take straight to keepers hands in the six yard box) and far enough out that it's easier to keep the ball down heading it.

    It's weird.

I sit in the East Lower not far off the corner flag and something has changed over the last month or so.

Previously Moore has headed in a couple from Mowatt, but recently he's aiming for a near post flick or trying to land it right under the bar.

The margin for error is tiny as it's either swallowed by the keeper or headed by the first man.

If it was that easy then everyone would have assisted as much as Conor did.

Chipping a corner towards the penalty spot isn't difficult and shouldn't be for any professional football player.

So please explain why Conor was so successful with his deliveries, yet other players/teams throughout the division aren't? If it was that easy wouldn't everyone be using the same tactic and scoring from corners on a frequent basis?

Be good to see some outswingers rather than every single corner being an inswinger

Yeah, they just seem to be floated in, easy picking for a half decent keeper.

Even Kane hemmings had a decent scoring record in the spl. I do agree though I don't think the delivery is great at times.
