As he did for Butterfield on tuesday night, got himself in a brilliant position again today to head the ball across goal for Vaz Te to score. Surely we've to give him a go up front, if only to win ariel battles and tee the ball up for Gray/Vaz Te/Butterfield/O'Brien et al. Looks a real handful, and he's got goals in him, this lad will come good.
not been today but iam sure this lad will come good for us. just hope the rest of the fans give him a chance.
He certainly looks like he could be a key player. My worry is that we don't have the luxury of time, and he really needs to start delivering goals soon. The chances he missed the other night when clean through were not a good sign. Misses like that are usually nothing to do with either fitness or sharpness as some suggested, but general ability to put the ball in the net. Here's hoping he catches fire v soon.
I fear you may be correct; time and patience aren't given generously by fans in general. The first miss was a bad one but the way he made it was very good.
I think that it's a confidence thing with a lot of strikers. Once he scores one, I think he could well get a few. Still not match-sharp, but has all the attributes to be a steady scorer. It's worth looking at some of the great goals he scored for Chesterfield last season.
The longer he goes without scoring the more pressure there will be from the fans and more importantly himself. I think he will come good but it irks me a bit to see Adam Le Fondre make the transition with ease - I reckon he will get 20 goals this season.
Hindsight etc. But I consistently said ALF was worth the gamble. But I also believe Davies is a talent. And lets be fair on the lad, how many 90 mins has he had up top?? Its rather unfair to criticize a guy who (in Keiths own words) is playing out of position, and not yet match sharp. Id like to see him and Gray together in a two on saturday, and eventually in a two with Haynes.
Should we give Vaz Té a bash up front then? Looked low on confidence against Pompey, scored vs Burnley and them seemed to be brimming with it, and in turn scored again against Cardiff? If we're looking for a striker brimming with confidence, surely Ricardo is worth a shout upfront?
No. Against Coventry and Portsmouth, where he started, he was dreadful. As an impact sub against Soton, Burnley and Cardiff he looked more than useful. And so I feel thats how to use him, as an impact player. I do think though, that he looks a better bet centrally than out wide. Same with Davies.
I'm not sure he does He appears to think it's just wide of the 'keepers right hand post. He definitely knew where it was at Chesterfield, but I think someone needs to show him where it is at Barnsley. Then he'll be reight.
Re: I'm not sure he does It hasn't moved since coming up to the Championship. Still central on the goal line.
Craig Davies has an inbuilt GPS system Unfortunately, Oakwell is a couple of feet west of Chesterfield's ground and poor old Craig is still aiming for the east/west coordinates of the goals at Chesterfield. Consequently his attempts at goal at Oakwell always go a couple of feet wide to the east. He needs recalibrating.
