I think hes doing a brilliant job. 1) Hes nearly got rid of Conlon (he made a bad decision in playing him from the start but atleast hes realised how shi*t he is now) 2)With limited resources, hes done brilliantly in the transfer market by bringing in players like Devaney, Howard, Hayes and Watt. Not sure about Richards though. Nards will come good. Cant say anything about Kell. He just needs to bring in a striker now. Preferably one that scores. 3) Hes won 2 manager of the month awards. 4) Played Colgan (instead of Flinders) in goal - Great decision becasue hes been brilliant. 5) We are in a playoff position and unbeaten in 6. As for the people who called for his head, they should think about what hes done and what hes doing. Well done Ritchie. Keep it up.
He's done well... but you could say... Why play Conlon cos he was **** last season and would be no better this? Unlucky with injuries but in hindsight, perhaps cost of emplying Kell for 5 months without him kicking a ball could have been spent in a better way Colgan is no better than last season. He's still highly suspect on crosses but an excellent shot stopper. Seems to me that he (and us) are beneffiting from a weaker division this season. Long may it continue.
I think he's doing a good job not a brilliant one. Still not convinced about his transfer targets at times.(Why did we need to trial another winger this week?) Been unlucky with Hayes whos having a poor season, seems to have dumped Nardiello a la Paul Hart, not convinced about Richards either. Overall about 7/10,dont think we'll quite make playoffs, still have too many performances where we amble through games, too many where we dont relish a physical battle and defence goes pub league too often.
But we're definitely moving in the right direction. Give him time - Rome wasn't built in a day & all that. All I'm hoping for from this season is an improvement on what's gone before and some hope for the future. IMHO Ritchie is delivering on that.
Agree, one thing he needs is time summat managers never get these days. I think he's done more good things than bad, signing of Howard,Devaney,(humble pie eating time with latter, cos couldnt see why we needed him) bringing on Tonge quite nicely, goalkeeping sorted out well. If only he could get Chopra back. Hayes and Richards on Sat,blinking flip Chopra could have played for both of em and probably done more.
I think Ritchie is doing a fantastic job, although i think he needs 2 get a new stirker in, one who can finish well
RE: Agreed Richards isnt the man for me. He doesnt look like a goalscorer. Hes scored 2 goals in 12 appearances (7 as sub) - 1 of them off his backside and one which Burns practically scored.
got to agree re strikers Hayes has been a big disappointment, cant remember the last time we had a team that has created so many chances, only for the strikers to fluff them, some team are in for a stuffing when it all goes right, lets hope its bradford
Hes done more good than bad. and as some posts above rightly say, the best thing that can be done is to give the man time. the constant changing of managers is no good. some had to go spackman and Hart!!! but too many have been choped with no sign of improvement after.
Lots of credit to Ritchie. We don't have any money and Ritchie has had to persevere with (in general) the same squad as last season. He's doing a great job. If we can finish top 10, that will be progress.
I will be disappointed with anything less than a top six finish. I believe the squad are good enough and with a bit more consistency will achieve that. After seeing the game at Bradford (which I consider to be the best game we've played at this level), I have little doubt that the play-offs will be achieved.
I'd likje to agree with that but can't as we are missing consistency. Consistency is they key and we haven't got it. The performance against Bradford was superb but then against Rotherham we were dire and the strikers can't score or any of them for that matter.
