That's where I'd play him. Time and again you hear people compliment him on his work rate and effort, but lament the fact that he just doesn't score enough goals. Work rate and effort are essential attributes for a midfield player. Goals, while still handy, are not as vital as they are for a striker.

If we're going to play wing backs I'd be tempted to drop Mellis, who is struggling for form at the moment, and try Dagnall. I reckon Dagnall would actually score more goals from midfield than he does up front. He hasn't quite got the quality to steel a yard on the opposition's defence at this level when he's played up front against a decent centre half. But if he was played in the hole, with two forwards in front of him, he wouldn't be marked so tightly. With a bit more space, some late runs in to the box and a cracking shot from distance I believe he could be the goalscoring midfielder we've been missing. Plus you'd get him running about like a nutter hassling the opposition's midfield.

This is mostly a football post.

Worth a try, he certainly has the right attributes. I agree about giving Mellis a rest though, reckon Cywka is another who could suit it and deserves a start IMO.

Square pegs, round holes. Im not sure I'd give a striker a chance in midfield purely because he can not score enough goals whist up top. Ive seen nothing to suggest he's a player who can open up a defence with a pass, and we have far better options in the attacking midfield position than Dagnall. Running about a bit more than the others isn't a justification for me.

I suggested putting Daggers into midfield on here when we were struggling for a team once last season but the idea was shot down haha. If we want to drop Mellis, we should be giving Cywka a game.

at the last count I reckon we must have eleventeen midfielders who flitcroft won't play, so why find a place in midfield for a "striker" who scores once every 15 games or so.

Not the worst idea to be honest...Flicker seems to pigeon hole some players, yet plays other wildly out of position
