Firstly, good to have you back. Finally, 5 months into the season and we've got someone who can put the ball in the back of the net!!! Secondly, I know a few people will dissaprove at the signing, but at the end of the day - football is football. There is hardly, if any, loyalty in the game these days and why should there be? I know a few of you will retort with 'Ugggh, if he loved playing football then he should have stayed here'. Fair point. However, if you were an IT consultant, you loved the job, but someone offered you that bit extra to move along...you have to evaluate things. Danny did that, he tried to do something different with his 'career', with his 'life' and it just didn't work out for him, and he realises that. Now, he's got the chance to play some football, and score some goals for us. I've spoken to him a couple of times in and around town, (while he was with us) and he does love the town and the club. But at the end of the day, when the decision was made for him to move to QPR, he was thinking about HIS CAREER and HIS LIFE, and he cannot be faulted for that. We all make mistakes, it's only when we REALISE that we've made the mistake and try to rectify it that we have truly come full circle. Great to have you back Dan. UP THE REDS!!!
Don't think anyone is disputing his reasons for moving on, but ... the manner in which he left us. If he had held his hands up and said "thanks for the offer, Simon/Gordon, I've had a great time at Barnsley, but I've decided to try my luck elsewhere", then I don't think anyone would have denied him that opportunity; however, he was set to sign for us on two separate occasions, the paperwork was ready and waiting, and he turned around on the motorway and had his agent 'phone Gordon Shepherd to say that he wasn't coming and would be signing for QPR. If that isn't publicly shitting on the club and fans, then I don't know what is. To make matters worse, he then got into a war of words bystating he didn't like the way the club had treated his mate Shuker the previous summer which reads to me that he'd done this to exact revenge for the little man. How very mature, Danny.
I would like to know the circumstances of Nardiello's return to Oakwell - did he approach us or did we go, cap in hand, begging him back? I'd like to think it was the former because if not, then Simon has gone down in my estimation as I always thought he was a determined man who would stick by his principles, no matter what the outcome. This move smacks of desperation in my eyes and shows that 'Player Power' is well and truly alive in football and implies that one man is bigger than our club. Once you go down that route, you are walking a dangerous tight rope.

RE: Don't think anyone is disputing his reasons for moving on, but ... Fair enough, however - if he comes back and does the business for us, I for one will be more than happy. Gotta be better than what we've currently got.
What utter tosh. If Nardiello approached us then fair play to Simon for forgiving and forgetting. If we approached Nads then fair play to Simon for recognising what we needed and fair play to Nads for having the balls to admit his mistake. As Poet said there is nothing loyal about football these days. Its a measure of money and game time. Before QPR were bought out Nardiello would have been first choice under Gregory. He made a decision, he's admitted his mistake and Simon has given him a chance to come back. Good bit of business for both parties.
There's a misconception on the board this morning....
...that those who aren't thrilledby his return are all harbouring some kind of grudge about him leaving for QPR.

I'll sponsor the physio's bench.
I can't see what everyone's concerned about - the BBS reckons he doesn't start performing until March so we've signed him at just the right time.

nail... head.... daveys stroke of genuis ! let qpr pay his wages while he does **** all except warm the physios' table.. then get him back when he starts playing... i kid you not davey and shep know the score !

I'm sure it'll work out fine. Nothing at all to raise our eyebrows about. This is perfectly normal management decision making at it's best and I've not idea why anyone would be split on it. I'm crossing my fingers for Hayes, he's got lots of potential. Particularly if Howard stops taking penalties for a bit.
hehe Same again next season and in the meantime we'll use the extra revenue from stopping up to buy Macken.
So its true then i was hoping it was just a rumor, why do we want a player back who left in such a disetful manner, and who could not even get in the qpr squad when they were bottom of the league?
First you produce your quatrain http://www.barnsleyfc.org.uk/bbs/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=92251&posts=17#M593628 Now you're writing in Latin. Admit it, you're a descendant of Nostradamus.
