    he was also tricked by the FA!! they said he was a manager!!! and by Ferguson who wanted a Sir Humprey Davey lamp for the team not Simon Davey!!

    Sir Humphrey Davy (gratuitous irrelevant knowledge alert!)

    What a guy. They don't make them like him any more. I used to live opposite the place where he did experiments developing the miners' lamp at Hotwells in Bristol. He also investigated the anaesthetic properties of Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas). He used to have parties where all his mates inhaled the gas and got legless. Must have been hilarious.
