I read with interest the debate about our defence and the different permutations people come up with to plug the leaks. The bottom line I'm afraid is we've signed 14 players and still not got the one we really needed. A gold old fashioned no-nonsense stopper in the Taggart/Morgan/Macca mode. A leader at the back to organise and cajole his co defenders.
Nyatanga has so far been a shadow of the player we saw last season and Souza, whilst looking composed and stylish still gives a goal a game away, a sin that we have all lambasted Reid for. Foster I have not yet seen as I missed the Plymouth game due to being on holiday. From what I remember of seeing him in opposition he's similar in style to Souza but smaller.
We have an abundance of cover in midfield - four wingers and five central players, so that's one area I'm happy with. Four strikers to pick from also, but the jury is out on that one too. Time will tell but six games into the season and only one has found the net so far.
Not too down-hearted about yeterday as I expected no better. The key to stopping up is winning the games we really need to, like Scunny at home in a couple of weeks.
Sorry to say I'm still not hopeful this season because we have not addressed the number one priority.
Go ahead Mr Davey and prove me wrong...please.

We have another 42 matches, all is not lost, i have to agree with you we have been fudging our way round the defence for years and i don't think they make them like the ones you mentioned. If they did they would be playing in the premiership and not for little old Barnsley. But don't give up hope yet, if this defence fails miserably, there is always the January transfer window, thats if we get the paying punters through the turnstiles and Shep digs deep for Davey to have another bash.
