Get rid Davey. Just not good enough, gets caught out of place all too often and gives the ball away.

Yes he can put in a decent cross or 2 but not often enough. Lets just hope we get Hammill!

Need strength in all positions for when injuries and international duty strikes.

No use offloading anyone at the moment.

We'll keep him as back up for Hammill (if we sign him)

in all fairness he was punching way above his weight today. I like him as a suad player, rather bring him off the bench.

Here You go again with.your anti-Devaney rhetoric.

know we are all entitled to out opinions, but I remember your anti-Devaney posts from last season. He didn't have the best of games, but worked hard as usual and helped out in defence.

He made the defence work even harder at times by giving the ball away and almost costing 2 goals!

    Did OK

Some decent crosses, hard working performance, without being outstanding.

in all fairness he didnt see much of the ball in first half but really picked up in second half
had an ok shot on goal and in right position.
think he is a good option to have and defo doesnt deserve the bad press.
He is the only player we have who will cross the ball, JCR, boggie, and Hamill all run and cut inside Disco is our only crosser

I think Devaney & JCR are the best things at our club, all our good play comes down the wings, Devaney always shows up for the ball & works hard yet like Oddjob gets no credit for anything he does, where as Macken does **** all and gets super Johnny chanted at him ?

Agreed if we sign any winger they should have to fight for place not jump into the first 11.

Don't think Devaney is good enough to compete at the level we are all now expecting, will be OK as a squad player but not a regular 1st teamer need someone more consistant.

    Best crosser at the club

And I don't just mean the two in the cup run.
3 sublime crosses yesterday which made hard work for the City defence.
If (and I'll believe it when it happens) we land Hammill, he and JCR will be first choice wingers. If Davey went into the season with no cover for either he'd be crucified for it. And if we don't land Hammill, like him or not, Devaney is the best we have at present.

On the subject of crosses though, I was impressed with Butterfield's corners. Smacked two really dangerous balls at a good height into the right area. Better than the easy fodder for keeper (or first defender) we're used to seeing.

RE: Best crosser at the club

Agreed RNL from what I have seen can cross the ball brilliantly, not seen many other players cross ball like he does but think at 16 he does not have enough experience to rely on him to be a firt teamer, to come off the bench will be goo tho.

That man works hard, gives 100%, and is red through and through

He can be great on his day. Ok - he lacks consistency - but if he played the way we know he can when he's 'in the zone' he'd be playing Premier League football and we wouldn't be able to afford to keep hold of him. People need to get off his back. If we get Hammill and we have Devaney we'll have a fortunate position of having too good players competing for first team football - if only we had that in every position!

    Fair enough, but...

...when he tends to be on top of his game, it tends to be a big match with a lot at stake - the ones I remember are Cardiff playoff final, Liverpool and Chelsea most recently. He still the best crosser in the squad - JCR is great at going past people (and I won't knock JCR trying to defend Devaney) but he can't deliver it into the box like Devaney can. Strengths and weaknesses. I wouldn't be looking to off load Devaney.

Until we have at least 5 more quality players on the books

I wouldn't look to offload anyone with first team experience.

Definately agree. But I'd go one step further

If we did add five quality players, Devaney wouldn't be the first one out the door for me.
