    When Howard was brought down at least 2 Liverpool players were frantically waving at the ref saying it was not a penalty.

    Now why would they feel the need to tell the ref it wasn't a penalty?

    If I was the ref, having made a decision not to give a pen, then see them waving and gesturing, it would probably convince me it was a pen after all.

    That is why Rooney should have been booked for applauding the ref, when he sent off the Eboue yesterday.

    When a player is brought down and then the offending player starts pointing just outside area to say that's where it was and not inside......I'd have that as a red card offence as it suggests they knew exactly where they were and the intent to make a professional foul just outside the area.
