Hi all, I am after a small digital camera with a flash that will fit in my pocket easily, takes decent quality photos and is good for taking on nights out......any recommendations?
You can play with mine if you like. Just got an Olympus Mju 800 (8) and a Fuji FinePix Z1 (5) for t'leg iron. The Olympus has a 19mp internal memory and makes nice whirring sounds. It's a coat pocket camera rather than a shirt, trouser or underpants one. The Fuji is pretty small and has fewer functions. It's a proper pocket camera and I like stroking it.
Bought Canon IXUS 40 From Jessops £200 They do a price match from any UK internet price you can find. Bought it after lots of research for the requirements you wanted. very light and ultra slim with a large viewing window, quality build, looks the business with amazing quality. I have a friend who is very much into cameras and has over $50k worth of equipment,he said Canon is the best buy at that price range. Im more than happy Stu.
RE: Bought Canon IXUS 40 I like canons. I have had the ixus 400 for about 3 years, its pretty good. If you are wanting really small then the "ixus i zoom" is tiny. Not used one, but you cant normally go wrong with canons. If you dont mind summat a bit bigger but better photos then the ixus 750 looks pretty good. Not cheap though.
Canon Powershot A400 was the recommended buy in 'What Camera' for May 2005. It depends what your price range is. It is well worth shopping around. I was able to get Jessops to knock £25 off my purchase of this camera for my wife's birthday on the basis that I had seen it cheaper in Dixon's (a shop from which I won't buy on principle). They sold it me at Dixon's price. You can usual knock the shop down to the 'on-line' price if you try hard enough. If you've got the money, try Canon EOS 10D at just under £1000!!! I'm not that much of an anorak, nor do I have the cash, but you can dream!
I've bought one for 15.99 from 7dayshop.com</p> </p> 1.3-2megapixels, so not gonna get dogs danglies pics, but not bad for t price!</p> </p>
I've just bought this one, so if anybody wants to give an objective crit as to why I should have bought another one, and the basis for this advice, then please feel free. Alternatives where appropriate would be appreciated. It's still in the box so I can change it if needs be. Ta. Oh and a Happy New Year. PS I paid £179.99. http://www.microwarehouse.co.uk/catalogue/item/FUJIC113?speedtrapid=shopping.com&lead=shopping.com
Thanks for advice everyone It looks like a toss up between the Canon @ £165 on Amazon, or the Fuji @ £167 from Pixmania.</p> My main Digi is the Fuji Finepix 4900 and it has been outstanding over the past 5 years. I'm tempted to go with the Fuji for this alone, plus it is 2 mega pixels higher than the Canon.</p> Does anyone have any last thoughts or comment before I buy.....</p>
Son bought a Casio DC from Pixmania. Had a lot of warranty problems which they were very unhelpful in sorting out. Now says he will not buy any major item through them as a result. Just his experience, and I am sure lots will be happy, but thought I would mention it.
shutter speed a lot of the older models have a substantial delay between you pressing the shutter and the photo actually being taken, which means its hard to capture the moment. Not so with the very latest cameras. The Canon Powershot A620 has just come out and is fabulous - Canon lenses are amongst the best around, has 7.2 megapixels, and 4X optical zoom. The quality of the photos taken with this are great and costs about £250.
RE: Thanks for advice everyone I have a HP M415, came with a 6x4 printer. Print and picture quality is excellent with a neat zoom feature and 5mp. Very easy to use with function buttons for most used features (flash setting, play back). Also has a video with sound feature. I too have always used Fuji so this was a difficult choice, but im very impressed. Printer is excellent for one touch printing of snaps and is very good quality print. Camera fits in a picket and recharges in the printer dock. I would highly recommend, especially for the £150 that i paid for the printer and camera.
