I know. Laura would end up having to push him from the school bus bays to the pub at Cawthorne, unless they took the dogs and tied them to the chair!
Knowing Kev's fondness for wearing a Barnsley shirt at all times I now have an image in my head of an alternative Father Christmas, sat in a wheelchair being pulled by 2 large dogs!
LOL Just cracked out laughing at that! BTW You were correct about his choice of evening wear last night!
What a lovely gesture. Just got up and mum has told me what you've offered to do. I've just remembered that I'm supposed to be making a vegetable lasagne at school tomorrow and haven't got all the ingredients so got to go and get them, don't really want to.
That's my girl Good luck with the fund raising and most of all get better soon. My jokes obviously did the trick. The next time you plan to go to school when you're not fit, I might just turn up and get on the bus with you, and give you a right old earful.
To be honest I don't know. Think it's about 5 miles or so by car/road, but don't know if they plan to stick to roads or use public footpaths etc.
Cheers. Laura is concerned that she's taking money for doing nothing and that it's wrong. BTW I'll try and keep those big white fangs away from the door!
could she walk a short way at the start and then join her mates for the last part of the walk, and perhaps cheer them on at the half way point or something, that way she will still be heavily involved with the event
Tell Laura.. ...I think everyone on this board knows how determined and courageous she is. But there is no disgrace in not doing something, when it makes sense not to do it (Does that sound right?)
Thank you for that. I know what you mean, it's just difficult for me to sit back and watch others doing things I want to do.
5 miles so if they take short cuts that could be what 3 miles maybe? (i've no idea, i'm just guessing) and they are young kids, well not adults anyway. Laura could set up some kind of drinks/refreshment stand halfway round or something to give them a bit of energy or she could help out with the organising and maybe come up with some fund raising ideas of her own, possibly ones that could be done on the same day by just her. Supporting them on the walk is one thing but my guess is that Laura would still not feel involved and its important to her to be actively involved, not just to watch so finding something for her to do that will help the cause might make her feel better.
Thanks for that. Laura has decided that she will not do the walk but likes the idea of thinking of other ways to help raise funds. (Y)
Laura has decided not to walk - she realises it's in her best interests that we would prefer her not to join in. BTW just realised I missed a letter m out of dilemma.
a wise decision How about something a bit different to raise money? I'm thinking a weakest link style quiz/gameshow with Barnsley players. It would obviously rely on the co-operation of the club and a little effort on their part but it could be quite raise some funds through sponsorship. Here's what I was thinking. A selection of Barnsley players go over to the school and play the weakest link trying to earn as much money as they can for the school prom. Whatever amount the win will be given by the sponsoring company (i'll get to this bit in a moment). It could be filmed and uploaded to Barnsley world or just the normal barnsley site (so the club gets something out of it too) and the video on Barnsley world would be sponsored by whichever company (they get something out of it) with all proceeds going towards the school prom. I'm not sure how well I explained that but I think with a few phonecalls between the club and school and the willingness of players to have a laugh then it could raise a nice amount and would be something enjoyable as well
