Saturday evening is not a good time to post anything sensible on this site - whatever the result so I have waited until now to have my say. I do not think that we will go up this season, but then I have not thought that we would go up at any time during the season. The management and directors are building slowly from a desperate position. We could have signed players in the transfer deadline, but we would have overpaid and the odds are that any player not required by his club at the most important time of the season would have proved to be a wasted investment. Much better to wait until the close season and use our valuable resources sensibly. I was as frustrated as anyone else by the missed chances on Saturday. My view is that the players snatched at them because they are young and are starting to feel promotion pressure. Nevertheless, I think that currently, the Hayes/Richards combination is the best at the club. My view is that Ritchie will improve Wright but that Nardiello has some serious problems, both physically and mentally and unless he can sort them out, he will not improve. The good thing about football is that there is always another season (unless the club overspends and goes out of business). I believe that we will be a better side next season and could even go up automatically.
Good post -but... I hope you brought your tin hat! I do think quite a few poster on here have lost sight of the f.act that we have improved significantly this season. I would love us to go up this time round but if not as long as we dont lose too many of the current squad and can improve in front of goal we should be in a good position to push for automatic promotion next season
RE: Good post -but... I do not need a tin hat. I simply turn off my computer and go and do some gardening. I do think sometimes that there are 2 boards in one. There are those who can stand back from their disappointment and try to find some logic in what they have seen, and there are those for whom a winning team is a great team and a losing team is nothing. Sadly, the 2 sides of the board can never communicate with each other.
I think we can go up this season with a bit of luck ........but why bring Shuker off for McParland Why? Why? Why? AAAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH
have to agree. I've seen enough of McParland to know 'he's one for next season'. Shuker, as frustrating as he is, is still our best option for the remaining games. I was thinking of a sub when Ritchie did it, but more Hassell on, Kay into midfield and close out the game.
A lot of what you say makes good sense. But whoever Ritchie brings in in the striker department this summer is the key to justifying your optimism for next season. If he puts faith in what we've got (cos all four current "strikers" are contracted for next season) forget it.
