If you bid for something and you have the highest bid but it doesn't meet the reserve then who will contact you saying that you havent met the reserve? will it be the seller or ebay? and will it be a standard message?
ta

It just says on the item board Reserve not met. That will stay on until someone does meet the reserve price and then the notice 'Reserve not met' will disappear.
Ah cheers, I thought that was the case. So if a seller put a starting bid of £40 for something and my first bid of £41 won the auction with no mention of reserve not met then there is nothing he can do afterwards? Got a message from him saying sorry, didnt meet my reserve so i'm not selling basically.
Yes. The seller will set a price he is willing to sell at. if the buyer does not meet that reserve price then he doesn't have to sell. You have to pay more to eBay if you sell your item and put a reserve on it. I suppose it's a kind of protection.
Nope, it said you've won the auction, in fact money was sent by paypal, accepted and then refunded by the seller. hmm, worth contacting ebay?
Thanks again. I thinkit's a case of him not paying for the reserve protection but still thinking he can pretend he has it
definatly i once won an item and the seller contacted me to tell me it was lost in the post, how the hell did he know, i assume he felt he hadnt got the price he wanted for it and refunded me and sold it elsewhere
lol lost in the post, I like that one. Maybe he followed the post van and saw him make a wrong turn. Do ebay actually do anything about it?
The minimum reserve price is £50 and it would cost him 2% of the final sale price. Definitely have a word with ebay about it.
He simply can't do that. Once a single bid has been made on an item, the seller CANNOT revise the auction; that includes setting a reserve price. Contact eBay with all the details - the seller will have their account suspended.
