VHS recorder seems to have some problems, but no idea what it could be. Unless its just got some dust/grit/muck/crap inside it anyway. Any ideas if this would do the trick, or if its wise to spray such a thing through the front flap of a video recorder? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Electrical-co...oryZ1267QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Please help!
Take the cover off and you'll see a silver cylidrical shaped component with grooves in it. The heads are small pin ponts in a slot either side of this cylinder. Get some meths on a bit of cotton cloth and wipe the tape heads. It's far better than these tape cleaning kits and sprayers and has worked every time for me. Don't be too harsh with the rubbing though, you don't want to damage the heads.
I really wouldnt recommend spraying it through the flap best case is it wont do anything, but its likely to screw up your mechanics heads etc. thats for cleaning circuit boards and connectectors and you usually use a brush as well
Keep away from spray! The best way of cleaning video heads (if you must ) is with cotton buds and sterilised alcohol. DOn't use cleaning tapes either!!
