I'm moving house in the new year and thought it about time I replaced my pre-historic home entertainment equipment, that stead-fastedly refuses to die a natural death. I'm a total ignoramus but here's what I hope my new toys will be able to hack.

One of those new fangled flat screen tv's that will go on the wall and hook up to my virgin box and dvd player. About 24 inch, fairly simple to use and will somehow play avi files etc via disc, memory stick or laptop feed.

DVD player/recorder with hard drive. I've got one of these, a Philips - but I don't like it. Even I can see it was designed by a ****. Blue Ray is still about two years off for me. One that can record to disc from virgin box

A fairly compact cd player that can also take an ipod and pick up a wireless feed from a computer. Doesn't have to be amazingly powerful, but y'know - quality, with a bit of poke. I like Bose.

I would also like a tv for the bathroom or a portable dvd player, one of those waterproof tile jobs.

That's it for now, don't really want to part with more than 2k and fully expect it all to out-live myself. Ta. ;)
