    What worries me is that I honestly wouldn't be surprised to find that the orange freak hasn't already agreed something with Putin where both Russian and America get to steal land and minerals from Ukraine and that the past few months of bullying and threats haven't all been part of the set up.

    Most of the minerals are in the regions currently occupied by Russia. I can't see Russia withdrawing any time soon and I can't see US troops forcing them out. The only logical conclusion is that the USA will effectively be working with the Russians to mine the minerals and Ukraine will get nothing.

    Having read a big article yesterday ( paywalled unfortunately)...it was saying the rare minerals are largely a red herring, the big money is in Ukrainian shale gas, apparently their deposits are big enough to replace the previous Russian gas supplies to Western Europe
