Fabio Capello (born June 18, 1946 in San Canzian d'Isonzo, Gorizia) is an Italian football manager and former professional player who most recently coached Real Madrid.</p> Regarded as one of the best coaches in professional football, he has the distinction of winning the domestic league title in every spell with every team he has managed throughout his career, with A.C. Milan, Real Madrid, A.S. Roma and Juventus (but later stripped due to match-fixing). Capello is one of the few coaches to claim championship victories in four major European cities (Milan, Madrid, Rome and Turin). He has won a major league championship in 9 of his 16 seasons as a coach and oversaw one of the most dominant UEFA Champions League victories of all-time.</p> Despite his coaching success, Capello is often an unpopular figure with fans of his former clubs in Italy; notably because of his public feuds with Francesco Totti and Alessandro Del Piero, amid accusations that Capello sabotaged their clubs before his departure.</p> At Real Madrid, he was criticized for not playing David Beckham and Ronaldo. After some initial criticism of his tactics and having spent much of the season in second place, he captured the La Liga title on the last day by pipping FC Barcelona on head to head results. In spite of his success after years of Madrid underachievement, Real Madrid's president, Ramón Calderón, fired him at the end of the 2007 season.</p> Upon being released by Madrid, Fabio Capello has revealed he is mulling over an offer from Major League Soccer in the United States. On July 16, 2007, Capello told Gazzetta Dello Sport, "They have contacted me from the United States, however I must think about it". He has since become a commentator for Italian broadcaster RAI, and has detailed the decision to bench Beckham lay with Calderón.<sup class="reference">[1]</sup> On 22 November 2007, Capello declared an interest in becoming the new manager of England.</p>
So the media keep saying wonder if Barwick has consulted some of the senior England players. Cos I can think of one in particular who wouldnt give Capello a glowing reference....

Whoever gets the job, can't win ................ ........ (apart from financially) because the measure of success = win the European Championships or World Cup. Everything else = failure, because the expectations of the England fans and media demands this, even though the players just aren't good enough. It's like taking the West Ham job with a directive to win the Premiership or Champions League in the next 4 years, but not being able to bring in the players with the quality to achieve that. I suspect that Mr Mourinho has realised this, hence ruled himself out of the running.
Does'nt matter who takes the job, he's still got the same ****........ players to pick from and most of them think playing for England is a bloody inconvenience.

It helps in your negotiations though with your club and potential sponsors to have "International" on your CV.</p> I think the players want to play , its just that they havent got a system that the players enjoy playing.</p>
