Can something please be done about people persistently sending you pms after you have out them on ignore and requested that you do not respond to each other? It gets quite frustrating randomly recieving PM's asking 'What kind of overend **** are you?' from someone I have made a conscious decision not to engage with and have taken the only steps possible to deal with it.

I have noticed I'm not the only one who has had the same problem after making the same decision.

I was contacted by someone with similar concerns. We did a test, he blocked me on the forum so he couldn't see my posts, then PMed me and we could still converse by that medium.

To be fair Supertyke, you probably get what you deserve (semi-joke). And I do too. But there are some vulnerable people about and I do think there should be a way that you can stop people harassing you by personal message. I think it's a serious issue. Every other messaging system I've ever used (email, forums, Twitter, facebook etc) has that facility. Ironically, the only system I've ever felt the need to use a blocking facility has been on here and this doesn't have one.

That's not a slight on the vast majority of users on here. 99.9% of people who have ever contacted me by PM have been courteous and agreeable and nice, for want of a better word.

I would say 96.3% of the people who have contacted me have been polite but that's still a pretty good but rate considering. I agree that most of the time I bring it on myself but when I actually apologised to somebody for any offence I had caused and specifically stated that I didn't wish to engage with that person anymore I think it's a bit **** that they are still able to send me abusive messages the next day after saying 'apology not accepted'.

As a side note heres something you may be able to help with. Any idea why that person has (following a disagreement with yourself) decided to start constantly referring to me as Jay? Apart from having two legs and a head I don't really see much similarity between the two of us. I mean I'm intelligent, good looking and extremely rich whereas you..

Going forward I do think it's something you should look in to. Not for me and Supertyke, **** us, but I do reckon it's a loophole that can be exploited.

People like Hemsworth have had a lot of hassle in the past and when it's on the BBS there's enough people who fight his corner that it sort of self moderates. Maybe not fairly, but he gets some support. As much as I don't agree with his posts, I don't like the idea of people abusing him by PM. That's not to suggest the vast majority of people do, I don't think that, but one nutter might and we need to give people the ability to stop that.

How does blocking work? I've blocked a few people on Facebook, and that's that. They can't see me or contact me unless they use a different profile.

I've tried blocking on here but I can still see that the person has posted, but not what, unless I click on their post. They can also still see my posts and reply, which is the reason I blocked them.

I used Tapatalk on my phone to access this forum. Is that why I can't properly make people disappear?

I don't think the blocking facility works very well at all, by whatever means you access this site. It just sort of stops you seeing their posts, but as you've described there are ways around that and it doesn't prevent them contacting you.

All I can see here is in your privacy setting
    http://barnsleyfc.org.uk/account/privacy

in the start conversations with you you can change it to only people you follow - but I dont think thats really what you want - no other ideas at the moment

I think its fair to say that the bloke likes attention . Constant pestering is a sign of affection . Take it as a compliment ST either that or tell him to **** off it's just words .

I haven't tried to block many to be fair, and not for anything personal that's been said either.

If someone started inboxing me to carry on a difference of opinion from the main forum I would claim that as a small victory for myself and best thing you can do is not reply. That would really pull their strings

I've blocked him but not had the pleasure of a PM yet. You must be honoured.

Will have a look into it. Don't think its possible with the software but there might be a plugin to do it. I've dropped you a PM though about the issue you mention.
