RE: Maybe Des Walker but head and shoulders better than the rest Your saying Ferdinand is better than Butcher was?
RE: There's a reason for that So next you'll be saying Owen deserves a place in South Africa!! Incidently which stand are you sat in when Man Utd visit Oakwell? You seem to be further up their arse's then any of the press FFS
If he played for any other team but one of the big four, he wouldn't be anywhere near the England squad.
Talk about pot and kettle! This from someone who has Man City players as his avatar! Owen could deserve a place if he's performing, could certainly be worth a place on the bench. Anyway, Owen was an England regular long before joining Man Utd. I was referring to your comment that playing for Man Utd seems to guarantee an England cap, well in the same way as in the '80's Liverpool had loads of England internationals, the top sides are going to naturally supply more players to the international teams. I think you'll find I'll be in my normal East Stand seat, but along with Arsenal I do enjoy watching them on TV.
If he played for any other team than the big four One of the big four would have paid shed loads of money for him and he'd be playing for one of the big four. He's playing for Manchester United and England for a reason. Because he's a bloody good player.
Can we get back to politics? Because the majority of people are talking **** in this thread. He's England's best centre half. He has been for most of this decade. He had a bad game, he'll have 50 good 'uns.
Always one extreme or the other Seems there's very little room for middle ground on here. I haven't seen Ferdinand's mistake yesterday, but he's certainly made a few recently. It's a concern for England, because he's been pretty solid for the last few years. When he came through at West Ham, and when he was at Leeds, I didn't want him in the England side because he seemed to me to struggle positionally, and was prone to lapses in concentration which led to mistakes. When he signed for Man Utd for £30m, I thought they'd been had, and given that I really don't like Man Utd, that pleased me to be honest, I quite wanted him to fail. But over the last few years he has improved no end and has been as solid a centre half as England have had. He's also transferred that form to his England performances in a way that so many of our big names in recent years have failed to do. So big respect to the man for that, as well as bouncing back from a long period out with suspension. However, if Fabio Capello has instilled anything in this England side, it's the notion that everyone has to earn their place. If Rio keeps making mistakes as he has done in recent weeks and months, then by Capello's own rules, someone else should be getting a look in. There are other options - Upson hasn't let anyone down, Woodgate and King at Spurs are superb defenders if they're fit, and there are youngsters coming through who might well compete if they go through this season in strong form. He's not a liability, far from it, but he might not be no.1 choice if his form doesn't improve.
Why cant people just give hi time. hes the best all round CB in England and he's rightly in the first 11 for the national team. Hes just come back from injury and always takes time to get back on his game. He'll be in the 11 for wednesday not because he plays for man u because hes the best CB Fabio can pick.
Some people can't see through their hatred (jealousy) of Manchester United, so will have a pop at any given opportunity.
RE: Jealous Man City syndrome again nt Nothing to do with that at all. I don't rate Heskey so i must be jealous of Aston Villa
Yes. And thinking some more better than Walker as well You dont win the champions league and multiple league titles with a sh*t centre half
