http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D1/fsthalf.html Not sure why we're always so much better in the first half. It could be down to our style of play, closing down the opposition as soon as they get the ball and the wingers working back. It takes a lot out of the players and might mean they've got little left for the second half. Or perhaps when we go ahead we take our foot off the gas and let the opposition back into it when maybe we should push on? Either way it certainly shows we've got the potential to compete for promotion and maybe if Hill works a bit more on their fitness ready for next season we can carry over these first half performances into the second. Should be interesting when we play Watford who are equally as much better in the first half as they are bad in the second.
Wonder if you can buy a 1st half season ticket next year at half price? i'll ask the Don, you'd probably be watching the greatest ever Barnsley side.
I'm pretty certain I remember Hill saying in an interview that our style of football takes up huge amounts of energy and therefore the players need longer to recover between matches etc. I remember him saying it can cause lacklustre displays which is why it's important to have the squad being very competitive. I've read comments by other teams fans along the lines of "they wanted it more" than us and that we were closing men down and giving them no time on the ball. It's probably why we pick up niggly injuries like we do - fatigue.
