Yep....time to trawl the loans.

It's good to have the contrast with starting the game just trying to pick up loan players and free transfers, and then later in the game being able to splash the cash around (assuming success of course!)

Thats why if i start at the very bottom i go foreign for some reason the leagues seem easier & loan players seem more eager to join than those in England

    Eaststander...

are you a football management virgin?

If so mate, let me / us know how you get on. Nice to hear stuff from new player. My workmate who is now in his 40's now plays the game every so often. I love to hear his stories. I have played every Championship Manager (as it used to be known) and Football Manager (since it became FM) and this is the first that i'm really really struggling with.

    Bloody thing!....

Just got to 1st April on my game and a message came up saying...

In an unexpected show of incredible generosity, the Barnsley board have decided to offer you a sum in the region of £500M to spend on players and a new stadium.

Please confirm your acceptance of this unexpected bonus.

So I clicked the accept button and a message popped up saying...

    April Fool!
You didn't think we'd make it that easy for you, did you?

    Buggers!!! (lol)

try Scott McGrory as well, and ask the board for a parent club, being Harrogate Town they sometimes suggest Barnsley

    Hardly!

Played footie manager games on PC, Amiga and prior to that the Spectrum!

Gone through the various incarnations of Championship manager from the first one and then Football Manager.

Last one I had was FM2005 which I played to death up to last year when I won everything in a season with Arsenal (having taken Barnsley into Champions League and then Deportivo La Coruna to 4 Spanish titles)

Nice start though in pre-season, 3-1 wins at home to Guiseley and Crawley (who are division higher). Young striker, Wittingham, looks decent, and Atkinson and Heslop both dominate. Slightly over wage budget so trying to offload a couple of players but a small squad. Need another keeper though as I only have 1.

Try the San Marino challenge. Ive got the club side into Serie B from Serie C2/B so far.
The national team are 123rd in world rankings, my greatest achievement was a 2-0 win against Greece! World Domination here I come.

Played 8 seasons now with Barnsley

Took 3 years to go up, now finished 17th (incredible last day escape after being 2-0 down and winning 4-3 at Man City with 2 goals in stoppage time!), 14th, 15th, 4th and 17th (another last day escape) in Prem.

Saved job last season by making QF of Champions League, semis of FA Cup and quarters in League Cup despite crap league form.

Squad wasn't big enough to cope with competing on 4 fronts.

I'll try that about the "parent club", didn't know about it....just as long as they don't offer me Leeds!
