I know that Mr Conway has very little credibility on here, but one of the points he makes in his interview (see below) is the lack of policing the existing rules have. He claims to have discussed toughening up the existing rules by instituting a system of earlier reporting of more detailed financial information, and employing more accounts at the EFL in order to check that information and enforce the existing rules. He claims that only Barnsley and perhaps 2 other clubs in the Championship would back his proposal. His proposal goes nowhere near as far as my suggestion of banning owner loans goes.

Tbf, he’s been saying that for a while now. And he’s right to - and he’s also right that not many other clubs would back it, as it goes against themselves. And there lies the problem - like turkeys voting for Xmas.

That’s only because those leagues can’t compete against the TV money the PL generates. The minute clubs are made to spend less, other clubs become competitive again.
Ultimately players will follow the money.

I think the best players will still want to play in Europe, that's where the history is. China, America can offer stupid money now but where's the Prestige?

I think you’re right Helen, also any of the top leagues will be competitive which is what drives most top players.

Quite ironic suggesting a want for more detailed financial information to be disclosed... given that he won't sanction the very same at his own club.
