We played crap last night, and have been doing since the international break. The biggest difference from when we played well is the lack of quality in the defensive midfield position. Da Silva made the team tick by not only getting a foot in but passing to players in a red shirt. He was suspended for the Burnley game (first crap match of this run) and not interested at Hull as he was going back to Everton. In this position we have tried :- McCann - played poorly, gives ball away, not right in that role Togwell - gets his tackles in more than McCann but passing is even worse, consequently ball forever coming back at us, enabling Togwell to get another tackle in before giving it away again etc etc. Johnson - only played earlier in season and obviously not featuring in Davey's plans anymore, looks well past his best to be honest. A lack of quality here has had knock on effect of a quieter Howard (has to do more donkey work) and poorer performances from wingers (not receiving possession in dangerous areas, misplaced passes to them, long hoofs down the line). Also, defence are looking more shakey because the shielding is not up to scratch, opposition allowed to run at our centre halves etc. They say one player doesn't make a team but it's had a big effect losing Da Silva. Having said that I know nothing about football. In fact I only wrote this as I am contracted to do one football related post per year by Site Admin, amongst all the *****, and it's November already.
It was worth all the while <font size="2">It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right. I hope you had the time of your life. It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
