    Maybe Earl at LB, Pines at RB marauding up the wing Cavaré style. Cotter and Phillips playing behind the strikers and Craig and Connell sitting to shield the central defence.

    We ended up playing a flat back 6. Some people will try to tell you that Gent was playing left midfield but he wasn't. Earl clearly and obviously moved inside to join Roberts, Pines and De Gevigney as the four centre halves while Gent and Lofthouse played fullback. It was a flat back 6.
