He will take up the role of honorary life president, the position he resigned in November because of his disenchantment with events at the club. </p>

The 62-year-old told the club website: &quot;Watford FC is in my blood. Wherever I am in the world I cannot resist keeping up with the news about Watford. </p>

&quot;I am encouraged to know the team has been playing better.&quot; </p>

The music superstar is reunited with close friend Graham Taylor, who joined the board in January. </p>

Taylor was manager of the Hornets whilst John was chairman for over a decade between the mid-'70s and mid-'80s, and then again from the late-'90s until 2002.</p><table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="231" align="right" border="0"><tbody><tr><td style="width: 5px">[IMG]</td><td class="sibStdQuote"><div><div class="mva">He is as passionate a person, when it comes to Watford, as you would wish to meet
    </div></div><div class="mva"><div class="mva">Watford chairman Jimmy Russo</div></div></td></tr></tbody></table>

John said: &quot;I wish the new chairman and the board, the manager, the team and all Watford's loyal supporters a very successful conclusion to the season and I hope that in the summer next year we shall all be able to come together for another concert to benefit the club.&quot; </p>

Current Watford chairman Jimmy Russo said: &quot;I am delighted that Elton is once again a part of this great football club. </p>

&quot; He is as passionate a person, when it comes to Watford, as you would wish to meet and he has been fully supportive of myself, my brother Vince and, of course, the manager Brendan Rodgers. </p>

&quot; The current board were very keen to re-engage with Sir Elton and we all see this as nothing but a positive move for the club, the supporters and Sir Elton John.&quot; </p></td></tr></tbody></table>
