Barnsley v Palace Match OFF

It's going to be a day off for fans, staff and players with the cancellation of the match on Saturday. The Safety Advisory Group and Police determined it unsafe to go ahead.

Despite the best efforts of the grounds staff in which they have been able to get the pitch passed to play on the weather has taken its toll and the surrounding areas are deemed unsafe for fans getting to the ground.

Barnsley have received an unexpected winter break with two fixtures lost to the weather and next Saturday's due to Sheffield United's involvement in the FA Cup. Whilst it will give players time to recover from injuries it is a double edged sword with fixture congestion likely to cause a headache in March.

New dates are still to be confirmed for the Crystal Palace, Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United games.

Well said that fella. The might as well rip out the undersoil heating. No more snow expected, sun is out and over a day to lay some grit. What a shocking decision and could very well cost us big style when the fixture pile up happens.

How much will the decision to call it off be down to police wanting a breather after derby match just down the road...

To call a game of 27 hours before it is ridiculous. The game may be playable this time tomorrow!
