In their faces from the off, knock the stuffing out of them with one or two early goals? Keep it tight, soak up a bit of pressure and try to hit them on the break? Settle in for the siege and throw everyone behind the ball, knackers on the line etc... Choices, choices..
If we score an early goal, I think that will be game over. It would be a mountain to climb for them to get back in the game.
We need to attack them but not leave ourselves exposed on the break as we have no reason to do that. They're going to come at us flying and will have taken confidence from seeing Brightons first half efforts last night. The most important thing is going in at half time with at least a 3 goal advantage. Any less than that and its game on.
i reckon both manager's will have been watching yesterday's game with interest. walsall have no choice but to throw everything at us. if we can withstand the first 20 without conceding, we give ourselves a great chance. we will have no choice but to defend for our lives..
I don't fancy a re-run of Swindon Town's performance at home to Sheffield United - 5-5 I think it ended. No thanks! Keep calm and carry on.
I think we should treat it like any other away game this season Walsall cant afford to go at us gung ho and have us hit them on the break so they will attack for sure but I doubt it will be suicidal attacking. If they can win the first half 1-0 I think they would take that - even level isnt a disaster for them We should play just as we did 2nd half at Wigan or the whole game at the blunts - or at Walsall last time round would be even better As others have said if we can nick a goal then it really should be game over so we should attack when we get the chance
I don't see any reason to deviate from our game plan for the last half of the season. If we concede.. so be it, we have shown numerous times this season that this team isn't afraid of going behind... Don't do anything silly or clever Hecky ... just stick to what you have been doing. It's a nil-nil game and if we lose 2 -0 we win! COYR...
Keep our shape, defend from the front, keep possession, attack at pace. In fact what we've done for the last six months away from home.
Agree that we play our normal game. We're very suited to play teams that attack because of how we press high, try and win the ball in their third then attack at pace. If Walsall were to go through, fair play to them, but I suspect they are very nervous of leaving themselves exposed at the back seeing how potent we were in the last game. They know one goal from us at any time and its absolutely game over.
Personally I go for "standard away type of tactics and performance as used since the turn of the year".
No they would need 4 goals to force extra time and pens. Heard a few people saying because its 3 nil they need 4. They need 3. I'm sure Walsall would take 3 nil and pens if offered to them. And i know i don't want that!
With it being a one off game they have nothing to lose, so I'd expect them to maybe change formation, play more upfront. They need an early goal imo. Freak results are possible, but they are freaks for good reason. Walsall can win but plenty of stats would have to be overturned in one game for it to happen.
