I'd be really suprised if that happened. He cost us 150k at the start of the season which for us is a lot of money. We certainly wouldn't sell him at a loss and for a player of his age and ability we'd have to be looking for a fee of at least 500k. I can't see any reason why we'd want to sell him and i doubt Southend have the resources to buy him. Unless we got a massive offer which was too good to refuse id be disgusted if we started selling off our best players. Regardless of what happens in Cardiff on saturday our priority has to be sorting out the contracts of our key players. Personally i think we need to give new deals to McPhail (if possible), Hassell, Reid, Kay, Colgan, Austin & Shuker. I think we should also look at extending the current deals of Hayes, Devaney and Howard. We've got a really exciting young team and we need to keep these players at the club. In recent years we've had a far too high turnover of players and managers. It's about time we had a settled squad and management team.
RE: Si Cheers mate. It'd be interesting to see exactly how many players have played for us over last 3 or 4 seasons. Looking at the teams which have been successful in league one over recent seasons i.e. Plymouth, Luton, Southend, Colchester, one thing they all seem to have in common is a settled squad and stability.
Spot on AND... No surprise we did better this year with a similar squad to last season with a few good additions like Devaney, Hayes and Howard.
He loves you really, Spartacus. But yeah, it's very sad bringing back posts to top which were posted almost a year ago.
RE: ha ho ho ha up to your usual standard "Isaac Hayes"....no please...cough..my ribs. I can see you sneeking out
