Hayes seems to be getting alot of stick on here recently so i thought i'd stick up for him.
Now not for one minute am i saying he is mint but he has shown he can be good and at times he can be a poor mans jason lee.

However did everyone think he was ***** when he scored 2 in 2? of course not, just like fans slagged off chopra when he first joined the club!

The main diffenrence he is that if it was Nards going through this spell (and i might as well add i think he is playing even worse than hayes before he got injured) then the fans would give him 5 years to get it right and still stick up for him, whereas with hayes they struggle to even give him 5 mins! So he was bad on Saturday, but who was good, and he missed our best chance from close range but is he the first? i remember at the end of last season Nards missing sitters but knowone said a bad word then!?

Obviously every linesman is wrong when they come to Oakwell, i mean they must be to keep flagging Nards offside, it can't be Nards himself who does not seem to know what on side means?

    Hayes versus Nards another interpretation

Paul Hayes 18 starts 4 goals
Danny Nads 30 starts 16 goals

I've got nowt against Hayes, but I've got nowt against Nads either, which you obviously have. Nads has never been through a spell like this 'cos he's never been played long enough.

Looking at the stats, I know who I'd start with. Both.

not knocking Hayes, but Nards never gets a run of starts in thew team. I accept that is partly because of his (lack of) fitness record, but even when he is available he is overlooked.

    my view

is nads and hayes 2ghtr wont work. maybe nads with jarman or richards. needs a workhorse with him. i still think given a run he will get some goals. hayes is only young tho so dont right him off either. For now id like to see a experinced striker brought in.

    nothing against him

just the fans that stick up for him regardless of how he plays! I would not mind Hayes getting stick as he has done for a few weeks now if Nards was getting the same (cos he is not playing well either) but the excuse is that he does not start games so does that mean when he comes on he has to be lazy, moaning at other players? Surely he'd try harder to make the first team?

i think on his day he is superb, the best at the club but also think he is the most selfish and lazy player at the club, diffence is that Hayes seesm to understand at this level you will not always get ball to feet and have to chase things donw, whereas Nards does not grasp that!

    i just hate

the excuse that it is becasue he does not start games, so he starts and then is injured and then comes on as sub and looks lazy and like he does not give 2 shites at times ( Does Jarman do this when he comes on!

like you say 6 in 9 last season shows he can do it, and i think he is mint on his day i just don't like the unbiased fairness towards him!

    see what you mean

but as you say hes shown he can do it so this is what people cling to. id like to see him get a run fitness permiting. i agree that as a sub he should put more effort in though.

    Compared to McPhail last season

where he had his fair share of bad injuries, was played out of position (left wing and too far forward when in the middle of the park) and could not get his rythem going, he took some right stick on here and at games, even though when he did play well he looked heads and shoulders above evryone else in this league, but with Nards he just has excuses!

    The difference being..

that Nardiello had won games by scoring goals. McPhail seemed to deliver none of the promise he carried with him.

Also, as much as Hayes is young and still learning, surely that still applies to Nardy?

based on the 6 goals in the last 9 games last season

we won 3 of them games which nards scored once in. But did McPhail not play in them games either and set some goals up?

My only point is that he seems to get far less or no stick compared to other players at the club even though he is playing as bad if not worse!

and the comment about "McPhail seemed to deliver none of the promise he carried with him." is a fair point but he missed a large junk through injury and played out of position at times so he was inconsistant!

or am i still been unfair against Nards?

    McP

played a number of games in the middle of the park and did nothing to justify either his selection or wage packet.

All I am saying is that if Hayes still needs time todevelop, so does Nardy. As for McPhail, he's been better this season, but like Saturday showed,he still has teh annoying tendancy to overplay it.

    agreed

on all accounts as i ahve never said hayes or Nards are still young and need to develop that is just common sense, all players shoudl be looking to improve at all times no matter young or old?
