You're a welcome addition to this board A credit to your club and yourself. As others have said, I wish you and your team all the best for the future AFTER the Charlton game.
Thank you. As I've said I've enjoyed myself on here, it's been quite a distraction - yesterday afternoon flew by and so is this morning.................and talking of distractions; I just LOVE your profile pic - it's so hypnotic! But how come I can't add one? I'm only trying to use a 6k gif or a 4k jpg?!
I don't know mate Try getting in touch with Site Admin. I'm sure they'll be able to help out. Talking of my avatar, I've been told Charlotte can sing as well!!
I also have a soft(!) spot for Katherine Jenkins! <img src ="http://www.famenews.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/87083_kj5_122_141lo.jpg"> <img src ="http://www.famenews.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/87043_kj1_122_607lo.jpg"> <img src ="http://www.famenews.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/87091_kj6_122_999lo.jpg">
So 4 seasons. I think we'll be lucky to make it back in that (if at all), the shape our club is in. We were pathetic. Their heads were down as they came out of the tunnel before kick off for ****'s sake. 49 years in the top two divisions thrown away so cheaply by mostly bit-part non-affliated loanees but also, more criminally, by the few City players we have on 'proper' contracts who just weren't up for the fight. Fulham all over again. What are we gonna do next? Capitulate to Wycombe on the final day and drop further? Bring in the kids. They finished second to Arsenal in the Premier Academy U18s League, which is their highest ever finish, plus they made the quarter finals of the FA Youth Cup going out to the holders Man City which is their best since '93 (when I think we won it). Plus they didn't have a loanee as their top scorer (Lita on 7) or own goals as joint second (6). Good luck to you. Never had any issues with Barnsley and you lot have been most welcoming to me on here, so in that sense I don't want to see you struggle again next season. The missus said she likes you too, so there you go!
we'll definitely miss the trip to norwich-done it the last 2 years and thoroughly enjoyed the weekend-apart from the football obviously!!!</p> Copious real ale in the Kings Head folllowed by the indian over the road have been excellent!</p>
All the best for next season There's going to be a big meltdown in football soon if things carry on as they are. Can't have some clubs going out of business with debts equal to about 2 weeks' wages of some of the top players. That can't possibly work long term. Relegation from the Premiership appears to be developing into a death sentence, or at least going into a coma for a few years until things get sorted out. Would be interesting to see what would happen if everyone suddenly cancelled their SKY subscriptions.
What happens to clubs when they leave the Premiership. Since '98, Barnsley, Bradford City, Leeds United, Leicester City, and now Charlton, Southampton and Norwich City, have been relegated, had a 2 or 3 seasons in the second tier, before dropping yet again. It seems that for some teams, the Premiership can be a poisoned chalice.
Good choices. There's loads of decent pubs and Indians in the city, even though loads of the pubs have shut down over the years. There's a nice little glut by the KH. The boys that sit next to me and their mates all frequent The Cricketer's Rest round the corner, and The Rose on the end of the road the KH is on is awesome for it's beer festivals and pre-match grub. And you've got The Freemasons Arms over the road from the KH and possibly another down there I'm forgetting (other than The Trafford Arms a bit further back into the estate) - plus there's a decent chippy there too! I'd recommend the Ali Tandoori on Magdalen Street in the city centre if you ever come this way again - they give you the hot towels afterwards; the works! Plus the other side of the ground, just up from the Royal Mail depot up the road from the train station is The Coach & Horses which is good for it's beer, food & sensible away fans. I could go on and on here! Bloody hungry now, talking about curries!
Yes, I refuse outright to have Sky at home, no matter what deal they offer me, as a matter of principal. I gladly make use of Sky Sports News for free on Freeview though!
Well I'm waiting for the Ashes cricket to finish Then it's going. Nearly £50 per month is madness. Most of the time it just sits there with a red light glowing and nothing else.
RE: Well I'm waiting for the Ashes cricket to finish I've managed to boycott the b'stards. If Setanta ever get full cricket coverage I'm signing up.
Yes, especially if you don't make proper use of the funds it gives you (like us) or you drastically overshoot with your gambling (like others). Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Unless you've got a big-dog sugar-daddy, and I'm talking billions or even multi-billions here (well out of Delia's league), then you're screwed no matter how 'big' the club is or how many supporters you attract. It's a crying shame but seeing as it means too much money to too many big-dogs then it's not likely to ever dramatically change or the big clubs monopoly sufficiently surrendered. The one thing that fights against it is every red-blooded supporters abject, stubborn refusal to do anything but carry on supporting their club no matter how ***** things get. They might get a bit thin on the ground but they won't defect. And the minute percentage that do? Well, did you ever consider them 'real' fans in the first place?
Thank you. A few (Bryan Gunn included) were too quick to cast all the blame the way of the officials for too many matches, whilst others were saying we just weren't getting the rub of the green. Well we'll certainly need Lady Luck with us next season, that's for sure...
