I used to work for Beau Asquith

He had a Grocers shop on Doncaster Road Kendray, its now an Indian takeaway. Beau lived straight across the road.
Used to work in the back of the shop weighing tayties, carrying crates of pop in etc. i also used to help him excersise his Greyhound and go to the races with him.
He was a big friend of another ex Barnsley player Jack Harston, who coincidentally had a newsagents/grocers shop on Doncaster road further towards Barnsley.
have to say I was only a bit of a lad and although I knew he'd played for the reds, I didn't know that he was held in such high esteem.

    Remember Jack Harston

Used to be our paper man, and always chatted when I went into his shop on the way home from school.

That's my claim to fame then

I used to work, associate even, with a Barnsley legend. His wife Ella was a really nice lady.
