It seems to me that a lot of the problems caused by CCFC fans on Sunday -and in the past - stem from a very vile from of Welsh nationalism. I find this unusual.

Now when it comes to history, I can see why the Scot hate England. In fact, when I first watched Braveheart, I was ashamed to call myself an Englishman so despicable and horrendous was our behaviour towards the Scots (OK, maybe a bit hyped up for the big screen but presuming this was based on the sort of treatment the Scots have had to put up with over the years from us).

However, when it comes to Wales, I'm struggling to work out where the injustices have occured. Ok, as fellow celts, they have no doubt supported the Scots over the years in their battles v the English But can someone explain why the Welsh should now be so anti English and as nationalistic/vitriolic as they are?

No idea. Definitely not at work, though. Honest.

Been battling with them since the word go, banned their language and diluted their culture to the point where it was illegal for a Welsh person to do anything other than try to be English.

Think pretty much what we've done everywhere in the world, except closer.

Please, please, please do not treat anything in Braveshite as real history.... Just a couple of truths for you...

That french bint was 9 years old when William Wallace was around so if he shagged her I'd be amazed

When Wallace captured York his troops butchered most of the people in there.

I notice you didn't mention Irelands reasons to hate the English :)

As mentioned, I can easily imagine there was factual inaccuracies in Braveheart - just as in most historical films. However, the Scots hatred of all things English didn't appear for no reason whatsoever and is certainly not reciprocated back to any where near the same extent by the English.

As regards Ireland, I am reasonmably 'genned up' on why they should dislike the English, it's just the Welsh that I have a bit of a knowledge gap.

To quote one of my more forthright colleagues

"The whole reason the English conquered the world is so that every other f*cker would speak English, so they can all f*ck off. The English are the best flipping race on the planet, end of."

That statement contains a large degree of truth, though not in the way he intended.
