Go on, I'll extend it. Don't rate him at this level and this game confirms it. Some woeful passes either direct to their players or playing one of our team into trouble.
His main issue going forward is he doesn’t look for the easy ball. He’d rather take another touch and try a forward ball to the strikers feet. Plenty of times today he didn’t pass to the winger while they were open. Defensively he’s good in my opinion. Breaks up play well but I prefer Halme in that position
Unlike some of the other comments I thought he played really well. His first thought when passing is to be positive so less balls go sideways or backwards, which gives the impetus more often. A couple of times the passes didn't come off, but he was as good at protecting the back four as Halme has been, and was a big part of a team that mainly dominated today's game against genuine playoff contenders. The other major positive is it allowed Halme to play at centre back. I thought him and Madds were pretty dominant today.
Given game time Dougall will be okay at this level. I thought we were more solid all round with him playing and Halme in the back four in place of Diaby. I’ve no problem with Halme at defensive mid. and I love Diaby’s energy and enthusiasm, but I’m on edge every time he is on the ball. Hope Diaby develops in future but he is risk at this time.
I think he cuts out attacks before they can begin and a lot of the stuff he does looks simple because he’s in the right place at the right time. It seems less scrappy and frantic with him there.
I thought he played really well but I was also impressed with him in back to back home games not long ago & cape on here to read criticism of him I didn’t understand. He’s excellent at getting the ball early to our forwards feet in dangerous areas
Just this. No game time at all in the last year let’s hope he gets a run of games to get to his best he’s a big player for us and if we can bring in a centre half with experience alongside halme we’ve every chance of staying up
