We ve got ourselves a right keeper, but is it only for a year? Based on today's showing the defence are the footballers Daniel.was wanting, the press in the first half at times was so high we were almost in the goal mouth! 6 debuts 6 good performances.
How comfortable did the crowd sound when it was at his feet, we had kittens when Davies had it. Thanks Stoke.
Looked ok on the ground but not enough data to say what he will be like when under more pressure. Flapped at one cross but otherwise looked solid. Need to see how things go over the next few games
Agree with some above comments that we’ve not seen enough of his actual goalkeeping abilities to make a judgement as Fulham didn’t really test him a great deal. I feel a hell of a lot more comfortable with the ball at his feet than I have with any of our goalkeepers for a long time.
Made 2 good saves, made 2 routine saves look hard work. Some good play to bring it out from the back but some poor decision making put us under pressure too. Certainly not disappointed with what I've seen but he'll have sterner tests than today and will need to come through them before I get carried away
got to admit that last week he terrified me when he had the ball at his feet he must have thought he was lionel messi but more polished and composed performance this week
Looked a bit sloppy in pre-season. Hopefully he was just saving himself for the proper games. Played good today, although the defence saved us more than he did. Anderson especially stood out.
Young family in Germany, don’t think he’d want to relocate as his wife is reasonably famous and has a good career out there etc. Gives us a year to ease young prospect Collins in without having to rely on him too early.
That's the biggest difference for me. To early to judge keeping ability as such, but he's a much more natural footballer. Looks so composed that he could play at centre half if needed.
I'm not sure how Diaby didn't get MOM. Apart from giving the ball away in the first half after his run from defence to the half way line he was a collossus and stopped most of the Fulham attacks. When he didn't get MOM at the end it reminded me of Steele getting it against Leeds when Vaz Te got a hat-trick. Quite bizarre.
Struggled to pick one out mate. As it was a great all round TEAM performance. Wouldn't have mattered to me who got it. Not many of us old uns can be arsed to get phone art even if we knew how to vote.
How do you know this? (Genuine question). Do you reckon he’s here for one year only, or if it goes well and it works for him, he may extend?
I'm sure it's been said it's only a year contract Wife has just had a baby and is/was an actress in a popular soap so assume they wont want to come over. I'm wondering if hes going to help Collins develop ready to take over next season.
Just looked now - he’s been about and was in Norway last year. Interesting really - if it goes well this season, this would be a big career moment for him. With respect, we’re his biggest club/highest league.
Plenty of footballers live away from their families for years. He looked tidy with the ball at his feet, that’s for sure. Didn’t see much else of him to judge just yet. He did come out to claim a cross into the box, but also pushed a shot back into the danger zone rather than palming it away.
Hes pretty much bang on mate with what hes said, It took the club alot of hard work and certain promises were made to get him through the door.
So 1 year only to prepare Collins for #1 next season? Presume he’s been allowed certain allowances for leave back to Germany then as part of the deal. If he continues his form, is there no chance he’ll extend?
