Tried that, tried reinstalling internet explorer, tried rolling back to previous restore point (will not let me) tried using firefox (new install)

All this happened since I got the updates sent from microsoft on tueday. Had our IT guy at work scratching his head as well

    I'd say ...

    .... it's your firewall.

Bet you use Zone Alarm ??

    RE: I'd say ...

I was going to say try uninstalling it (i've seen it happen with zone alarm) and then re-install and it tends to do the trick when switching it off and on doesn't.

Remember you'll be unsecure without it though so make sure you have a download/disk ready for if it doesn't work.

Other than that, just check the DNS settings .... try going to 212.58.227.79. This should load the BBC site and will prove if it is DNS or not.

DNS is okay, I will go for the uninstall and re-install approach, gut feeling is always pointing at firewall
