Aside from the word "blame", that depends upon your perception of what a manager can do with a squad of players that he has inherited. Although managers last so little time that hardly any of them get to say a squad is wholly their own creation. And very few managers (if any) get to clear out everyone upon their arrival. So it should be a given that the manager who applies for the job ought to have knowledge of who is already on the playing staff, and thus a perception of what he can do with them. Danny furthermore has been cut a fair amount of slack with regard to bringing players in. Though halfway through a season is difficult. I believe it is not good enough to say that the players we had were so crap that it was an impossible task. There were many who had done well last season. We became somewhat more proficient away from home (or at least a cast iron defeat was no longer guaranteed). It was at home that we floundered. We have had groans and gripes at a succession of managers but only 2 have presided over our relegation in the last 30+ years. And Danny has now managed it twice. Blame is not the right word. It it is not the right word when it comes to pointing the finger at others either.
