Winnall just needs chances. He more often than not makes his own goals. What you don't want him doing is chasing back towards midfield and trying to hold balls up all day. Just give him some quality balls, half chances and he'll score plenty.
Spot on. Simple game, complicated by people trying to be clever. Said it all season. Play to Winnall's strengths and we'll have no problems this season.
It's not though really. One wrong step and you can concede a goal. Getting everything right is hellishly complicated.
absolutely right, hate one up front, give your main striker a partner and back yourself to beat the opposition. Its not rocket science or a particularly strong league. That been said you still have to play well with decent application so not taking anything away from today, more bemoaning the negative ***** its taken for (hopefully) the penny to drop.
Shows we don't need a big guy up front holding the ball up either. If Watkins could improve his finishing we'd have a great goalscoring partnership. Edit: to be fair to Johnson there wasn't much wrong with trying to bolster a defence by being solid in midfield and get players up to Winnall, he just stuck at it for way too long when it obviously wasn't working. He won't be the first or last manager to be guilty of that though!
It's not like he hasn't played with two up front when we've been able to over the last couple of months.
