Mowatt finds row z every time he shoots at goal but he still plays every game and rightly so by the way he’s the best we’ve got but that’s another story .
Absolute clanger that is unforgiveable but has earned some backing and stays in for me unless/until he does it again. Did he really need to come for it anyway, not sure only seen it once, but it seemed a fairly harmless situation that an experienced left back a la Neil Thompson would have taken charge of and/or communicated clearly with his keeper about. Still unclear why we switched the central three around in the first half too - Serena would have cut out that ball that the less mobile Helik missed for mine. Think that one has to go down to Murray in part.
If you take every player out because of one mistake we would want a fresh eleven every week , he will learn from that error so cut him some slack, besides that he deserves the support of the fans especially as his efforts last season were a big part of us staying up , short memories some folk
More than one one mistake, his clearances were poor as well. Got away with one that hardly got off the ground. One save doesn't make up for that
They were consistent errors from Mads. The same basic error every week even. He didn't get crucified for doing it once. He was crucified for doing the same basic sh*t every week. Walton has just made a mistake, probably his first of note in a Barnsley shirt. You'd drop him for that, considering how well he's played since lockdown? Surely dropping a young keeper for one mistake does just as much harm as it does good?
Don’t have short memories at all but as a GK it’s unforgivable. I’m all for supporting the lads but our lack of ruthlessness has cost us year upon year and is mainly one of the reasons why we’re constantly in relegation battles.
I thought there was no pressure we had players back. Monumental coc k up. I'd have subbed him there and then had Collins been fit. That brain fart cost us 2 points.
I blame the iFollow summariser. Early on he pointed out that Walton's strength was collecting crosses. Meanwhile Davies's strength is the point blank fizzog block.
He just needs a big sloppy cuddle from Murray and told to forget about it. He's filling a spot in a championship side for probably not a lot of money, no one wanted him dropping before tonight, he made a mistake move on.
A lack of ruthlessness is one thing but one bad error from a rookie goalkeeper is unbelievable ? I don"t think so, he is nowhere near the finished article & will make more mistakes which hopefully he will learn from but the last thing he wants is dropping , he needs the management to give him a vote of confidence & make sure he is the first name on the sheet for Millwall & he needs fans to show him support .
Exactly. Didn't Adam Davies have the odd shocker especially in sky games ? Yet he turned out to be half decent. I'd love to know the wage difference between Davies and Walton now.
Good point , in fact Davies had a torrid time after our previous promotion & the usual suspects gave him dogs abuse which did him no good at all ,but eventually he got is mojo back and was outstanding when we got promoted again ,however I do not think he will have forgotten how some fans treated him & consequently decided to turn his back on a new contract & leave , I hope Walton has thick skin & ignores the fickle fans who turn on a player at the drop of a hat .
I think Davies loved us singing for him in the promotion season, and I don't think how the fans were influenced his move away. I'd have swapped keepers today like a shot but Walton deserves to be given a chance.
I love Walton. I love dadda dad a dadda dad a dadda addada da da da der. I hate it when he goes to bed...night Mads, night Soll, night Helik, night Mowatt, night Cauley.
I'd guess that there's nearly a million pound a year difference in wages between the two !!! On that basis that's why we've got to support Walton.
Will become a top keeper at this level no doubt, is he championship standard at this moment in time? No, and neither is Collins. At least on of the two should be out on loan at league 1 level with the other been a number 2 here to a more experienced keeper. There will be alot more mistakes throughout the season which is inevitable, not a good combination with a powder puff strike force.
If you're a coach who is any good, that is the last thing you do. Especially if you're the coach of a team that is full of young players. All players make mistakes. If it becomes a pattern, that indicates poor form, maybe then you act. One mistake is a mistake. Fans who can't deal with that really need to get a grip.
Murray should call in him, put an arm round, tell him how highly thought of he is and ask him how his mental state is for next match. Make Walton make the decision. If Walton says he's ok play him. If Walton says or implies he's not then drop him for two or three games. All the while saying good things to him.....
Whilst I approve of the sentiment, there is not even a decision to be had. He's made one mistake. It happens to every player. Just move on. The last thing we need is to make a big deal out of ONE mistake.
