Sound familiar at all?? http://www.otib.co.uk/index.php?/topic/140733-jcr/page__pid__1457038#entry1457038
Not really, thought he tried his best in most of his reds appearances. I'm more concerned that they'll all be trying to impress their new manager. We tend to have a habit of kick-starting other teams seasons, or new management (temp or permanent) getting off to a flyer against us.
They all agree that he works hard and tries his best. The familiar I meant, was the 'runs down the wing then cuts inside... EVERY time' or 'He's great to watch at times but theres usually zero end-product' and my favourite 'on first viewing, he looks a top player.. but keep watching him and you seen realise he's a one-trick pony.. he also offers nothing defensively and makes any full back look dreadful'
I think he converted himself. He was trying to do everything - all Simon Davey did was continue to let him do it.
Correct, he was our player of the year up to the point where Davey decided he was as good as Maradonna and gave him a 'free role' which invariably meant he was picking the ball up from the keeper and generally being totally ****, like the manager who gave him that 'role'
Didn`t John Barnes, in his capacity as Jamaican coach, have some input by having a word with Davey about him being more central or in a free role. I`m sure I read something at the time.
I've not heard that, but given John Barnes' track record at Celtic it sounds about right, in fact him and Davey would be anything but a 'managerial dream team'. All I know is, JCR was one of our best players as a winger before Davey tried to make him into something he wasn't!
he was always like that though, could dribble and beat a man but then hardly ever crossed, ultimately losing the ball. when he got told to cross more they were **** poor anyway!
John Barnes track record at Tranmere wasn't much better, was appointed in July, and sacked in October after winnig just 3 games from there first 15, think they were about 5 points adrift at the bottom of league 1.
Funny old world John Barnes wins just 3 games from 15 and he's sacked and held up as the poster boy of crap managers. Keith Hill wins 3 from 14 and he's a regional hero.
Re: Funny old world Only till KHiller is a past manager then it will turn into he was always sh it and any good he did will be wiped from the memory banks. Think thats how it goes.
Re: Funny old world I was thinking exactly the same when I read the previous post. Although tbf, he is my hero (allegedly)
Hang on Jay that's a bit unfair cos...err..cos...erm....cos mmm....oh just cos it is OK!! and I think you'll find a reasonable argument against your point sir
