We must have been close to getting him in January, but Tommy Wright persuaded him that first team football with St. Johnstone was better than our offer behind Pinnock and Lindsay. How is it that Little Lee so often weasels in on our transfer targets? Perhaps we had better not advertise them too much. It was the St. Johnstone manager who let the proposed deal slip in January. if it's still about getting first team football, we should be in a better position than Bristol City, or Cardiff City, especially in Lindsay does leave. How ambitious do we want to be? £1 million? Would we? Or are Little Lee and Colin, or the player's agent just trying to talk up a possible fee? Our board needs to hold its nerve, but be ambitious in equal measure. if we land him for less than £1 million, that could well represent a good deal. We'll have to stop these names getting out there, unless it's the agents doing it, which is quite likely.
Depends on whether Lindsay goes really. Sadly competition from other Clubs will not help and it will come down to who eventually offers him the best package. Another factor of course, could be where he feels he has the best chance of enhancing his future career. Out of the other Clubs said to be vying for his services, given our past track record for improving younger players, I feel we would be in pole position on that particular count. For me, whilst I like Jack Walton, our No 1 target surely needs to be a reliable goalkeeper.?
